Wet n Wild Mega Last Review!

 I almost missed out on some *gorgeous* cheap lipsticks, guys.  Fortunately for me, it didn't happen!

The story starts with this lipstick.

The color is 'Think Pink' and I was looking for a dupe for a Bite color I was obsessed with and almost out of.

I thought this baby would do the trick.

But, alas, it was too pink.  Not only that, but the formula felt a bit on the dry and heavy side and it always landed me with chapped lips, so I banished it from my makeup box.

I'd pretty much vowed not to try any more Mega Last lip colors until one day reading articles and comments on XOVain, someone had commented that Smokin' Hot Pink was a bitchin' bright pink that stained and faded nicely.

I had to know.

I found it at a local store and snapped it up.

At first, I thought I'd made another mistake because the color in the tube looked a tad bit chalky and lighter than I'd hoped.  "There goes another $2," I thought.  Then, I put it on...

...and was gifted a gorgeous truly HOT pink lipstick.  The photos do not do it justice and, the person who left the comment was right - it lasts forever, but when it does fade, it fades to a gorgeous "been making out all day" hue, a deep, pink stain.  It also doesn't dry out my lips and looks great on, stays put without liner, and has a matte finish that I just love.

Bonus!  If you layer a coat of Baby Lips Electro in Pink Shock over the top of it, it gives it a crazy dimensional neon-ish look and a bit of shine!

Lesson learned.  I'll be trying a few more of these colors!

Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipsticks - Swatches and Reviews

Time for another great review!  I always love doing reviews like this.  Even though I started the whole 'makeup breakup' name to try to make the shit reviews a bit more fun to do, I still don't care for doing them.  It doesn't bother me as much if the product just isn't for me, but if it is something I feel is just truly shoddy quality, then I don't like to write the reviews!  In the interest of being honest about everything I try, though, I do it anyway.  For, like, all 3 of you who actually read this.  LOL

As per usual, the gorgeous 'EL' embossed onto the tops...

...but in a different color tube than usual!  I do adore that clean white and gold packaging over their normal navy!  So much brighter and happier, yet it still smacks of something a bit luxurious.

The colors here are Pure Color Rose Envy Shimmer Crystal Lipstick (20) and Pure Color Tiger Eye Shimmer Long Lasting Lipstick (86).

While they are both sort of sheer, I also found them to be buildable and they do have a lovely shimmer.

You can see they are a bit darker here after another swipe across.  The Rose Envy is my favorite as it looks very natural on the lip with only one coat, or at least it does for my lip color.  It more gives you this nice flush to your lips instead of an in-your-face color.  While you'd still have to pry my red lipstick from my cold, dead fingers, this stuff has been nice for summer.  When it is too hot to do a full foundation routine without it melting off, you need something a bit more natural as I don't personally care for the look of a super dramatic look with a mostly-bare face.

Pros: They had a super creamy consistency and weren't drying at all, which is a plus!  Consistency and moisture-wise, they rather remind me of my Maybelline Baby Lips, which is a good thing.

Cons:  I didn't find either one of them to be particularly long-lasting.  They're not unusually bad, but they just require a periodic re-application.

Stila Merry and Bright Palette Review

*This was a gift from a friend, but opinions are 100% my own

I'm not a neutrals person, usually, but I adore this palette!  I know I already swatched a lot of the things I've been reviewing lately, but I wanted to do a full-review with a back cap on the swatches because I like to use a product for a bit before I pass judgement.  I realize this may leave me a bit behind in trends, but I never cared to be trendy anyway, and I'd prefer to give a good, honest, thorough review rather than rush it and have to come back later and say "you know what, this wasn't so great after all".

This is the Stila Merry and Bright palette, and it is so handy.  It is very convenient to just toss in your bag because the lip color is also for cheeks and the black is so pigmented and opaque that it can be used as an eyeliner in a pinch with a dampened brush.

Not to mention, it is cute as all hell.

The colors are, starting at the top and going clockwise, Chill, Glisten, Joyful, Ebony, Butterscotch, and Molasses.  The lip and cheek color is Lillium.  LOVE that name.  Every time I use it, it gets the song 'Lillium' by Silent Opera stuck in my head, which is an awesome thing!

Here are the swatches again, in case you need a refresher.  The lip color has an amazing formula.  It goes on nicely, is build-able, and isn't stick in the least and doesn't have that odd chemical flavor some lipsticks do.  Sadly, it isn't my color and makes me look rather dead-ish when I wear it, so I usually use it with a cheek color or blend it with a color from the BITE palette.

Chill and Glisten just baaaarely show up in the photos, but they are well-pigmented, just very light and blend in with my pasty arm, but are beautiful on and are light enough to go wonderfully with a retro cat eye.  In fact, I've now used almost all of Chill as I do that look a lot.  You can see from the top swatches that the darker colors are wonderfully pigmented.

This goes for about $20 on amazon with the lip glaze, which isn't bad.  On the Stila website, these palettes are on markdown for 9 bucks which is WHEEE!  They don't have this exact one, but they have several similar ones I'm salivating over, so I'd say definitely worth the value!

I have what will hopefully be a super awesome series starting in the near future, so keep guessing!

BITE Palette Review

*This item was a gift from an awesome friend, but all reviews are 100% honest and alllll mine.  You may notice I prefer to quote amazon for prices, but that is simply because it is somewhere almost anyone can go look up the product immediately instead of having to find x store which isn't even in your city, so you'd have to travel to x and....yeah.  Amazon ftw.

This is another one that *very* pleasantly surprised me.  I may or may not have mentioned this in my Crimson Amulet review, but I don't usually get along with lipstick that is in the little trays.  At all.  Normal tubes and the ones with the wands I can handle, but I hate the trays.  However, this palette is so great that I don't even mind it at all, though I do still use my finger to apply them because...fuck a lip brush, guys, seriously.  But you just want to see pictures, right?  :)

These appear to go for about $12 on amazon, which when you factor in is only 4 bucks a color, that's really not bad.  Mine is rather scratched up from bouncing around miscellaneous makeup boxes and bags, but you can see here in the original post from just after I got it how nice it was brand new.  It is a cute matte black with a ribbon that almost looks like a little book and has "BITE" in gloss black.

Inside, it has a brush, which is nice by lip brush standards, but I still avoid it, a mirror, and three colors - Restina, Rose, and Tannin.

If you'd told me back when I got this that I would use Restina and Rose almost exclusively, I'd have laughed you out of the room.  Before I got this palette, I never wore anything other than red, so I naturally thought, when I opened it, that Tannin would be my go-to color here.  I was wrong.  Instead, I've been putting Restina in the middle of my top and bottom lips and Rose on the outsides and blend them together in a gradient effect and it just looks SO CUTE.  *.*  I've only worn my usual reds once or twice since I discovered that.

Here are the swatches, though the picture could have come out better.  Restina looks pretty true to color, but the Rose is a bit light here compared to how it comes out on your lips.  It is build-able, so you can go from a sheer pink to a nice, opaque pink.  I usually have mine opaque on the outsides then less as I blend into the Restina.  The Tannin goes on almost like a stain if you put it on thin, but it is build-able as well.

The products themselves feel light and not at all tacky or slimy once they are on.  They last pretty well - about average, I'd say - they do not bleed or run, in my experience, and wear comfortably.

I am just in love with this palette and will more than likely buy another one when this runs out.  I think it is a good value for the price and definitely a keeper!
